We are happy to announce that the markets we held prior to Christmas were so successful that they are now running EVERY SUNDAY FROM 10AM! Local support has been very positive, and we currently have between twelve and fifteen regular stallholders.
The range of produce is excellent; O'Conaill's chocolates from Carrigaline have a stall, we have excellent cakes from former Cafe Paradiso dessert chef Mags Curtin, (as well as our own, that is!) McBride and Flynn with a lovely range of preserves, pickles and dressings, and Mo Crawley's Port Yarnock vegetarian smoked produce are all in regular attendance.
Other produce on offer includes dry goods ( muesli mixes, nuts and fruit), sushi, great coffee and seasonal salads. Hot ready-to-eat food is also a feature, with crepes, authentic middle eastern Kebabs and occasionally bratwurst too. In future, we are hoping to add Clonakilty ice cream to the list, and have taken on a couple of non food stalls; nursery plants and hand made soaps in particular, and soon we should have a cut flower stall too. Music is a regular feature, adding a nice social aspect to the whole thing!
Please support these local food heroes in their quest for small, sustainable food supply! We can all enjoy a better standard of eating by developing relationships with our local growers and artisan producers, and we're doing the planet a favour too.....

Natural Foods Bakery # 2!
Yes, it's true ladies and gents, we are set to open a second outlet on 26 Paul st in early december! Modelled on our blackrock shop, get set for all the same luscious cakes, gourmet sandwiches and handmade organic breads. We'll also have limited seating available for those rainy lunchtimes!
Christmas is coming, the cakes are getting fat....
Much as we abhor the commercialism rampant at this time of year, with Christmas advertising going up in cork the second the halloween tat comes down, we're forced to start thinking of christmas early, as we begin to bake our delicious range of christmas cakes in october!! Handmade, with a full bottle of brandy inebriating each batch, we allow our cakes to mature in the time-honoured way....
Our range includes the traditional brandy and almond cake, a gluten free whisky and walnut cake and also a sugar-free cake, which we produce closer to christmas, as without all that sugar it doesn't keep as well as the other cakes. Our brandy and almond and gluten free cakes are available either plain or hand decorated. Other christmas goodies to watch out for are all-butter mince pies, mincemeat slices which are sugar free and dairy free, cinnamon christmas cookies suitable for coeliacs and a spectacular white choc, whisky and cranberry cake.
Another exciting development is the decision to hold three christmas markets on the three sundays before christmas, in the car park outside the bakery shop. These will start at 10. Watch out for posters and flyers....

A baking revolution!
The Natural Foods bakery is a small bakery in Blackrock, a beautiful walk away from Cork City centre, along the marina walkway. Run by two sisters and a scottish fella, we believe passionately in good bread baked in the time-honoured traditional fashion.
For too long, Irish people have suffered the adverse effects of eating white sliced pan. Produced in factories, this product is squidgy, tasteless and full of additives to keep it feeling "fresh" for longer. One large producer even bears the ludicrous slogan of "today's bread today". Well, in our bakery today's bread really is today's. Our dedicated artisan bakers start work at 3.30 to handcraft each loaf, so that by the time our shop opens at 8.00, the whole building is infused with the warm and comforting aroma of fresh baked bread. Our products do not arrive frozen, to be heated up in an oven and create the illusion of a bakery, we actually make our bread from scratch each morning.
We use only organic flour in all our baking, with no added flour improvers, genetically modified soya flour, sugar or dairy products, we have a range of loaves; granary bread, 100% wholemeal loaves, spelt bread, white bread, the mediterranean inpired tomato & olive loaf, a tasty herb & seed bread (great for those omega fats!) and our lovely cherry brack, flavoured with cinnamon.
