Blackrock Village Farmer's market

We are happy to announce that the markets we held prior to Christmas were so successful that they are now running EVERY SUNDAY FROM 10AM! Local support has been very positive, and we currently have between twelve and fifteen regular stallholders.

The range of produce is excellent; O'Conaill's chocolates from Carrigaline have a stall, we have excellent cakes from former Cafe Paradiso dessert chef Mags Curtin, (as well as our own, that is!) McBride and Flynn with a lovely range of preserves, pickles and dressings, and Mo Crawley's Port Yarnock vegetarian smoked produce are all in regular attendance.

Other produce on offer includes dry goods ( muesli mixes, nuts and fruit), sushi, great coffee and seasonal salads. Hot ready-to-eat food is also a feature, with crepes, authentic middle eastern Kebabs and occasionally bratwurst too. In future, we are hoping to add Clonakilty ice cream to the list, and have taken on a couple of non food stalls; nursery plants and hand made soaps in particular, and soon we should have a cut flower stall too. Music is a regular feature, adding a nice social aspect to the whole thing!

Please support these local food heroes in their quest for small, sustainable food supply! We can all enjoy a better standard of eating by developing relationships with our local growers and artisan producers, and we're doing the planet a favour too.....

Good luck to all concerned. I've just added the market to the map at http://siopaeile.com/blog/2008/03/fresh-food-map-for-ireland/, but I don't have any very appealing photos at the moment. If you get some good snaps and don't want to add them yourself, e-mail them to Bubble Brothers and I'll do my best to get around to it.
